Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS)

According to the FCC, MURS is "a private, two-way, short-distance voice or data communications service for personal or business activities of the general public." MURS is authorized by Part 95 of the FCC's rules. Individual licenses are not required.
MURS transmissions are limited to five channels, using a bandwidth no greater than 11.25 or 20 kHz (depending on channel), and a transmit power no greater than 2 W.
